How often do I have to replace my furnace filter?
As the best HVAC contractors, we say the recommended intervals to replace your furnace filter depend on the size of your filter. If you use one-inch disposable filters you will need to replace them monthly. Four-inch media cartridges or high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters will only need replacing every six to 12 months depending on your home circumstances. You will have to replace your filters more often if you regularly burn candles, smoke indoors, have ant construction activities close by, or animals and pets in the house. During your regular HVAC service visit, you can also ask about the rate for your furnace repair or replacement.
